March 4, 1999 Well, that was a short journal. From now on, all of my attention will be on creating a nice montage of baby photos so be sure to go to the "eye" page. However, maybe later we will get Mom to tell us about her experience, first hand...

Early Evening Update (9:17 pm) - I'm too tired right now to fill in all of the blanks...I'll try to do it tomorrow. But do take a look at the pictures!

Early Morning Update (2:51am) - Well, we've been having strong contractions about 5-10 minutes appart since 11:00 pm. These are consistantly strong. At one point, probably around one o'clock or so, we realized that we weren't sure when we were supposed to call the hospital or go in. We had to grab our cheat sheet. We had a slight laugh then as we quickly read through a couple of pages in one of the many booklets. It was like cramming for an exam. I think that within a few hours we may head off to the hospital...so, I'm not sure when the next update will occur. Wish us luck!

2nd Evening Update - Strongest contractions yet. I asked Sylvia on a scale of 1 to 10 how strong they were...she said "a ten" with a wince and a weak smile...

Evening Update - A few more strong contractions...not regular though...

Afternoon Update - No news...added a "voting" page.

Lunchtime Update - Sylvia has had some pretty strong contractions. Not regular...yet.

Morning Update - "All quiet on the western front..."

Evening Update - Okay...here's the evening update. The baby's in a "weird" position...Sylvia today noticed some discharge from "the feeding area". It's known as colostrum - it's the turbo-charged milk that the baby gets as the first meal. An amazing thought, this milk (and later milk) is genetically coded just for our baby.

Morning Update - This is the first day of the two of us working at home together...so far, we haven't killed each other...yet. This morning the baby was very active and had hiccups. I'm sure s(he)'s ready to come out pretty soon...more later.

"False" contractions (Braxton Hicks) continue today. The baby is fairly quiet. Not too much activity. Sylvia, in her motherly instinct, decides to make some carrot cake. It turns out pretty well. She tells me that she's ready to have the child. She can't believe that her stomach is going to shrink back down. She seems to have lots of energy...and that nesting behavior is starting to affect me. What I mean is, suddenly I'm supposed to clean up and organize everything...
